Sustain the Change: At-Home Coaching Frequently Asked Questions

What is coaching?

Coaching is structured, supportive, and collaborative process in which your coach works with you to implement lifestyle changes to support your lasting health and well-being. Your Green Mountain at Fox Run coach will work with you to translate your Green Mountain experience into practice upon returning home.

Through questions and conversation, your coach will help you identify your desires and values, set goals consistent with living those desires and values, and establish actionable steps for achieving those goals. In sum, you’ll work with your coach to create a behavior-oriented and realistic action plan to help continue moving your forward on your health and wellness journey.

Your coach is a source of on-going support and encouragement, helping you connect with your own inner wisdom to drive the change process. Your coach never tells you what to do, they do not assume an “expert” role, but rather function as your partner or co-pilot working with you to set goals, identify individual barriers to change, and develop strategies to keeping you moving ahead.

What is the difference between coaching and medical nutrition therapy or psychotherapy?

Coaching is not clinical. Therefore, coaching is not, nor is it a substitute for, medical nutrition therapy/nutrition counseling or mental health counseling/psychotherapy, which are clinical.

That means your coach cannot offer specific, individualized nutrition advice, prescribe special diets or eating plans, or make individualized dietary recommendations for managing chronic health conditions. Likewise, your coach cannot diagnose or treat any mental health disorders (e.g., anxiety, depression), or work with you to explore the origins of, or process, emotional difficulties.

If you’re not sure whether your needs are more clinical, or would fit within the coaching structure, not to worry.  Our coaching coordinator, Dana Notte, will be able to help. If it does turn out that your needs are more clinical in nature, we are happy to help find a provider in your area who can help.

Do coaching packages expire?

  • Single sessions expire one (1) month from the purchase date.
  • Three (3) month coaching packages expire four (4) months of the purchase date.
  • Six (6) month coaching packages expire seven (7) months from the purchase date.

If I was a participant at Green Mountain many years ago, can I sign up for a coaching package now?

Coaching packages are available to participants who have participated in Green Mountain programming (including special weekends) within the last two (2) years.

Can I purchase a “Continuing Support” package if I have not completed a “Going Home and Getting Started” package?

Continuing Support packages are only available to participants who have completed a three (3) or six (6) month Going Home and Getting Started package. However, you can purchase coaching sessions individually if you do not want all of the services provided with one of our coaching packages.

I purchased a Personal Development Jumpstart Package and decided I want a full three (3) or six (6) month Going Home and Getting Started package. Do I have to purchase that separately?

If you purchased or completed the Personal Development Jumpstart Package within the past 30 days and have decided that you’d like to upgrade to a full three (3) or six (6) month Going Home and Getting Started package we will roll the Jumpstart Package into your multi-session package. You’ll pay the difference to upgrade to your selected package (i.e. listed package price – $199 already paid = balance to be paid) and the Discovery and Roadmapping Session and Personal Development Plan you received as part of the Jumpstart Package will replace those items in the multi-session package selected.

Once I’ve purchased a package, can I use my sessions to meet with different Green Mountain coaches?

Coaching packages are completed with one coach. Part of what makes coaching successful is the collaborative relationship that develops between coach and client. Your coach gets to know you well and has a deeper understanding of your prioities and goals, what’s worked and what hasn’t. As a result, multiple sessions with the same coach provides consistency and continuity in goal setting and action planning that is difficult to replicate when coaching is occurring with multiple coaches.

If you wish to have a session with a different staff member you can purchase a single session in addition to the coaching package purchased.

I want one or two check-in sessions when I get home, but don’t think I need a full package. Are there other coaching options available to me?

You can always buy individual coaching sessions with any of our coaches at a rate of $75 per half-hour or $150 per hour. These sessions only include the phone session and do not include between session email support or a written personal development plan.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my session?

If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, email your coach at their direct email address at least 24 hours in advance of the session that needs to be changed. No-shows or sessions canceled less than 24 hours in advance are forfeited.
