Another Day, Another Diet

Do you just shake your head when you see an insane infomercial for yet another weight loss product? Or do you get frustrated when you hear a friend tell you she is starting a ridiculous diet that you know will make her struggles worse?

Now is the time to help Green Mountain identify the worst weight loss schemes of 2013. We’re sponsoring the Slim Chance Awards as part of Healthy Weight Week 2014, a tradition was started 25 years ago by Francie M. Berg, MS, LN, a licensed nutritionist and adjunct professor at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine.

Slim Chance Awards Expose Misleading Diet Claims

The Slim Chance Awards expose the most outlandish and misleading claims made each year in the weight loss field to build awareness around the dangers of chronic dieting.

Some of the past winners dating back to 1989 include a laser lamp that melts fat, thigh cream, skin patches, cleanses, slippers and food pads, and even media personalities and television networks.

Nominate the Worst and Tell Us Your Diet Story to Win

Public nominations for the Slim Chance Awards opened on Wednesday, Nov. 20, and close Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013. You can vote here. The award winners will be announced before the end of the year. • Rebecca Scritchfield, RD, Washington,DC-based dietitian and fitness expert

Additionally, if you leave your story of “The Moment When… I Knew I Needed to Stop Dieting” when you submit your nominations, you could win a free week at Green Mountain.
