Phil’s official forecast as read February 2nd, 2009 at sunrise at Gobbler’s Knob:
Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
On Gobbler’s Knob this glorious Groundhog Day, February 2nd, 2009
Punxsutawney Phil, Seer of Seers, Prognosticator of all Prognosticators
Awoke to the call of President Bill Cooper
And greeted his handlers, Ben Hughes and John Griffiths
After casting a joyful eye towards thousands of his faithful followers,
Phil proclaimed that his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers were World Champions one more time
And a bright sky above me
Showed my shadow beside me.
So six more weeks of winter it will be.
Aw, Punxsutawney Phil. Every time I think about Punxsutawney (and gosh, that’s at least once a day), my mind immediately drifts to one of the great comedy classics of all time, Ground’s Hog Day, starring the incomparable Bill Murray. Good times.
Funny enough, here in Vermont, Phil’s pronouncement is a very good thing! Bring on the snow — we love it here. Can’t get enough of the stuff (*slight hint of sarcasm*). But, seriously, winter activities in New England are what it’s all about. Snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing, snow boarding and or just hanging around and tossing a few snow balls with the kids. There’s so much to do and not a lot of time left to do it. So, hitch up your Subaru and come see us. Before you know it we’ll all be complaining about the heat.

Oh yeah, one more thing…I hate typepad.
