It’s time to send in your nominations for the ‘Slim Chance Awards’ and the "Women’s Healthy Weight Awards."
Sponsored by the Healthy Weight Network, which was founded by our friend and role model Francie Berg (who is also the coordinator for the Task Force on Weight Loss Abuse with the National Council Against Health Fraud), Healthy Weight Week celebrates healthy diet-free lifestyles that last a lifetime, not just through the New Year’s resolution furor. Francie says, "Americans traditionally begin a diet the first week of January and "blow" it the second. During Healthy Weight Week, the third week, people are encouraged to stop dieting and other forms of disordered eating, and get on with living in healthy ways — eating well, living actively and feeling good about themselves and others."
The Slim Chance Awards — this will be the 18th annual — exposes the worst weight loss products and promotions of the year. Categories are: most outrageous claim, worst product, worst promotion, and worst gadget.
Women’s Healthy Weight Awards (the 14th annual) honor businesses that portray size diversity in women. Categories: advertisement, TV show or network, magazine or fashion catalogue, and other.
So go to www.healthyweight.net, and click on Healthy Weight Week to submit your nominations. Francie also requests that you send as much information as possible along with the nominations — date and source, the advertisement (print and online) or the claims (radio, TV).
