Food Exposure and Cravings


Seeing food, smelling food, watching TV shows about food, talking about food, or just plain thinking about food are all various types of food exposure.  Food exposure is something we can’t avoid completely. However, a common result of frequent food exposure is frequent food cravings.

    My house. 🙂 It’s the worst place because I’m the only one that maintains a strict diet and my wife loves to cook chocolate chip cookies “for the kids”. (Did I mention that chocolate chip cookies are my strongest temptation?!)
    I have managed to abstain for the entire year.. but the cravings are there. Food exposure is tough. The first 60 days of stopping the sweets was the hardest though… then strangely, I could deal with the smells and sweet sugary aromas.

    That’s tough, Jeff! 1 year without cookies plus having to smell them all the time, pretty intense, although interesting that it got easier after a couple months.
