Many women have the misconception that working the core = abdominal exercises. While abs are a major component of the core, so are the back and the muscles around the pelvis. And the stronger all of them are, the better your balance, stability and posture will be. As a result, activities become easier, from mundane tasks such as bending down and getting out of the car, to more physical moves such as swinging a golf club or climbing a hill.
In our strength training classes at Green Mountain , we encourage women to make sure they are doing exercises for their backs in tandem with their abdominal exercises. The great thing about working these parts? You usually don’t need any equipment!
Check out how our fitness interns, Shannon and Lindsey do them, and let us know if you have any questions!
