Chloe M. is a college student who joined us for 3 weeks of our Young Women’s Specialized Program this summer. Before coming to Green Mountain she struggled with the typical college stresses, emotional eating, and the pressure to look a certain way by society and the media.

Throughout her stay, things started to shift. In a sit-down interview with Chloe, this is what she had to say about her experience at Green Mountain at Fox Run.
Why did you choose Green Mountain?
I’ve tried multiple retreats in the past, but immediately after leaving them I went back to my old ways. None of them were sustainable because they were so extreme. GM was not expecting extreme changes, it had more reasonable values and goals. I loved the message and philosophy – it was different and really resonated with me.
How would you describe your experience at Green Mountain?
I was very hesitant about coming to Green Mountain. When I arrived I said I’d stay for 2 weeks, and not a day longer. In the middle of my second week, I couldn’t imagine leaving yet – so I ended up choosing to stay a third week, which I never thought would happen. Green Mountain is a very healing place that allowed me to find myself and helped me learn to love myself for who I am.
It’s hard to explain what exactly happens at Green Mountain because it’s different for everyone. During my stay, I was able to get in touch with my body, solidify the signals from my stomach to my brain about being hungry or full, and do exercise classes I never believed were possible for me. I made friends from all over the world, and I connected more with them than my friends from other places because we all share a similar struggle.
What was your favorite memory of your time here?
Drumming! I loved the Drumming class – laughing more than I ever have in an exercise class, not caring what I looked like and being okay with making a fool of myself because everyone was. I also loved sitting around the dining room table chatting and laughing with people I didn’t know a week before, as if we were lifelong friends.
Was it easy to make friends with the other women at Green Mountain?
Although I originally thought it would be difficult, once I got here I quickly realized that everyone at Green Mountain was so incredibly friendly and kind, it was impossible to not make friends here!
Would you recommend Green Mountain to a friend, and why?
I would definitely recommend Green Mountain at Fox Run to any woman who’s looking to go somewhere where she guides the changes she will make. Green Mountain is very self-driven with assistance from professionals as needed, but we (the participants) are in the driver’s seat. Anyone who is looking to explore their relationship with food, learn about their bodies, discover different ways of moving/exercising, and getting to know amazing women in a beautiful place, Green Mountain is your place!
