Young Women’s Program

Women in their teens and early twenties face unique challenges that can make it difficult to maintain a healthy weight. Maybe you're struggling with fear of the "freshman 15," or you're a recent graduate juggling a new job and trying to stay fit. Or perhaps you're a young woman who's been struggling with her weight for as long as she can remember. Whatever your story -- we can help.

Here, you'll learn how to maintain your lifestyle and stay healthy without depriving yourself -- and yes, beer and French fries are included!

Why We're Different

Green Mountain is a diet-free zone! We quiet the weight loss "noise" about choosing between "good" foods, "bad" foods, low carb, fat-free and diet foods.

Here, you'll learn that normal eating involves eating all kinds of foods. The key is eating until you are satisfied, staying active, enjoying both and keeping it all in balance. All of the food here is real, and you'll be able to build a take-home eating and fitness plan complete with strategies and recipes that work for you.

What You Can Expect
  • All the benefits of our regular Healthy Weight Loss Program, which includes meals, lodging, fitness and educational workshops
  • Classes within our core program address key issues for college-aged women such as eating in restaurants, tackling chaotic eating (meal skipping, getting too hungry), food cravings, cooking classes and changing your relationship with food.
  • An exceptional behavioral program dealing with binge and emotional eating, body image issues and the unique stresses that young women face.
  • Small break-out groups with women in your age group struggling with similar issues. Topics of discussion may include dealing with dining halls or fast food, making meals fit in a busy class schedule, dealing with boredom-based eating, struggling with the social pressure to diet, and establishing at this most critical point in your life a healthy relationship with food and your body.
  • A wide variety of physical activity, with modifications offered depending on your level of fitness.
  • An experienced professional and credentialled staff, with years of weight/lifestyle management and behavioral experience, who lead all workshops.

A Women-Only Retreat

Our facility is open only to women, so you'll be making these healthy changes in the company of those who share and understand your issues. Here in the mountains of Vermont, you can forget about the stresses of daily life and focus on you. As you start to get fit, you'll improve your self-esteem and confidence and begin to accept yourself as you are right now. This is the first step toward sustaining your new, healthy lifestyle.

Keeping it Real

We also have a lot of fun! Latin meets hip-hop in our popular Zumba aerobics classes. Or choose from kickboxing, tai chi, yoga, swimming, hiking and much more. In the winter, enjoy cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. We want you to find activities that you enjoy so you'll be motivated to continue them at home.
