For half of you reading this, your daughter has asked to come here, and you’re wondering if our program is safe, and why should it be any different than past attempts.
The other half of you have found us on your own, and you’re wondering what you need to do to instill in your daughter the desire to be happy and well by coming to the Green Mountain program.
You’ve seen the headlines about the obesity crisis in America, you’ve heard the dire health forecasts about remaining “overweight,” you’ve been worried by your daughter’s struggles with weight, food and body image, and you’re concerned about eating disorders, too. You may be wondering if your issues about your body image, dieting and food have influenced your daughter’s issues.
The Green Mountain Approach
What is the right thing to do?
While we know that “weight” is the “squeaky wheel” that seems to be the problem and a focus of much energy and attention, a lasting solution is about much more than just weight. Green Mountain’s approach, as pioneered here 40 years ago (and the only approach with proven long-term success), is to change the focus from weight to health and well-being.
By helping your daughter not only understand but intrinsically want to live a healthy lifestyle, the Green Mountain program helps her build a firm foundation for achieving and maintaining a healthy weight throughout life.
Most women who come to Green Mountain just can’t make these changes in their thoughts, beliefs and attitudes without help. They can’t put into perspective the tremendous pressure to be thin at any cost without some assistance. Likewise, learning how to reconnect with your own body, feeding it appropriately (not too little and not too much) and feeling comfortable moving it when you’ve internalized the message that it’s not good enough, usually requires some professional assistance and advice, too.

The next step of making peace with your body (typically ground zero for most young women) and ridding oneself of unrealistic expectations is no easy jump without some help.
We provide that help, support and structure in a relaxed and constructive atmosphere, where Green Mountain professionals lead participants in discovering their own issues and finding solutions that fit their individual needs.
Our goal is to pass on our understanding, gained over 40 years in this field, to make our participants experts on their own bodies, able to discern fact from fiction, fad from science, hype from health.
