As I was hustling to get out of work yesterday to run an errand, I stepped out into the beautiful 60 degree night and almost ran smack into our fitness specialist, Masha, who was doing “repeater knees” on a step. She had her earbuds in and was working up a sweat, so I decided to leave her alone and not ask her what the heck she was doing. Then I noticed our dietitian Robyn doing walking lunges around our track.
A-ha! I remembered it was the Green Mountain staff workout night. And last night, the staff chose to shake things up and take it outside.
They walked around the track, then up the hill, then did intervals on a step, used a jump rope, did two-armed rows from with a tube tied around a tree, walking lunges, jumping jacks, and on and on.
It was cool to see them create an outdoor gym with little to no gear. And was a good reminder that anyone can do this in a park, at home, in their yard, etc.
For more ideas on how to create a “natural gym,” LynnAnn shares her tips on taking it outside to increase motivation.
