Healthy Cooking Thursday – Our Green Mountain Spices


Here at our healthy weight loss spa, herbs and spices abound in every dish. Not only do these seasonings provide flavor without additional fat and with minimal sodium and sweeteners, many spices and herbs also contain anti-inflammatory properties. Some of these nutritional all-stars include rosemary, ginger, turmeric, parsley, garlic, cloves, cumin, and basil.

Now it’s even easier to put these anti-inflammatory ingredients to use. Available straight from our health spa’s kitchen is a growing variety of spice blends. With busy folks in mind, Smokey Ginger, BBQ, and Garam Masala have been created to be multi-use flavors for those moments when you just don’t have the time to carefully craft a delicious meal, but still want a yummy experience. And unlike most commercially-produced spice rubs, ours do not contain lots of sodium or artificial stuff. After all, eating healthy can be easy, and definitely need not be boring.

Our current Green Mountain Spice Rub collection includes:

  • Smokey Ginger, a delicious choice for salmon, chicken, grains, peas, and green beans
  • BBQ, a sweet honey-mesquite blend, perfect for baked beans, shrimp, pork, baked tortillas, peppers, and corn
  • Garam Masala, an exotic and earthy Indian-inspired mix that is perfect for chickpeas, tofu, pork, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and spinach

The blends are simple to use. Just combine the spice blend with a little olive oil and toss with whatever you want to eat twenty minutes before cooking.
