Pepper supplements may not work for weight loss, according to an article on msnbc.com.  We'd agree, although not necessarily for the reasons cited in the article.  We focus more on the whys of unhealthy weight gain, which often involve much more than small metabolic changes.

Does nighttime eating cause weight gain?  <!–more–>I wrote about this recently on SELF.com, but the dailybreeze.com talks a bit more in-depth about it.  While we share many of the same thoughts about the subject, I still emphasize that it's about listening to our hunger cues and responding intelligently.  And making sure we support their functioning by feeding ourselves regularly and well.

Phil Lempert Supermarket Guru featured Chef Jon's Cheddar Millet Cakes this week on their Steal This Recipe feature.  Never tried millet?  Well, now's your chance.  These are yummy.  And they're gluten-free!

To send you off with good thoughts for the weekend, we borrow from Roni at Roni's Weigh:

"Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny."
~Frank Outlaw

Good thoughts, indeed.

Go out there & have a great one this weekend!
