Aspiration, dedication and perspiration, what more can you ask for?

When I think Olympics, I think winter Olympics. I grew up watching The Wide World of Sports every Sunday with my dad. We’d collectively cringe when it came time to watch the infamous Vindo Bagataj tumble. Oh the agony and the defeat! But that one terrible spill represented for me the Olympics — exciting and dangerous, graceful and artistic.

Remember actually getting excited because it was an Olympic year? I’m not so sure the young people of today are waiting with bated breath for ice skating — yeah, I’m one of those nerds — and I wonder why not?

There’s a reason I bring up the Olympics today, besides sending a shout-out to Vermonter Hannah Kearney (woo hoo!) who brought home the first US gold of these Olympics —  it’s about finding inspiration for healthy living. Sports are inspiring and athletes who dedicate themselves to being the best at one thing is awe-inspiring.

So, if you’re thinking twice about going for your walk because it’s too darn cold, or jumping in the pool because you think your butt looks too big in a swimsuit, stop and reconsider.  Just think about your favorite Olympic moment and get inspired!

What’s your favorite Olympic moment?

Here’s one of mine.

That’s easy-”DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES!?!!”

U.S. men’s hockey team beating the unbeatable Soviet Union team in 1980, on their way to the gold medal. It was impossible, and they did it!
