“…[the] dieting industry is the only business that can sell
the consumer a product and blame the buyer when it
doesn't work.”
— D. Roberts, America the Beautiful
“Green Mountain at Fox Run and Darryl Roberts both support
the idea that beauty and health come in more than one size.
We believe it’s especially important for college-aged women
to hear and understand this message.”
— Marsha Hudnall, MS, RD, Green Mountain director & owner
America the Beautiful 2: The Thin Commandments exposes America’s obsession with weight instead of health and debunks myths around thinness and health. The documentary weaves this message with director Darryl Roberts' personal transformation around his relationship with food, exercise and weight.
“College-aged women face unique challenges that can make it difficult to engage in healthy behaviors and foster a loving body image," says Marsha Hudnall, registered dietitian and owner of Green Mountain at Fox Run. "That, along with a college culture of dieting, makes them especially vulnerable to disordered eating and struggles with self esteem. We're sponsoring screenings of this important documentary to help young women realize that dieting and body hate will not support them in living a healthy and happy life, and to help them find a way that does.”
America the Beautiful 2 will be shown at more than 150 colleges and universities nationwide in 2012. Green Mountain will participate in Q&A sessions with Mr. Roberts following at least 15 of the screenings, including:
| Dartmouth University | Hanover, NH | Wednesday, February 15 |
| University of Buffalo | Buffalo, NY | Monday, February 27 |
| Hamilton College | Clinton, NY | Wednesday, February 29 |
| University of Rochester | Rochester, NY | Thursday, March 1 |
